Syzygy Wines: a great space for my paintings!

Last Thursday my husband and I made the beautiful drive diagonally across the state to Walla Walla with 18 paintings to hang at Syzygy Wines. The weather was perfect and of course I spent a fair amount of time thinking about my next ten or so paintings.

Syzygy Wines is at the airport where Walla Walla has established an economic incubator for the wine industry. It's a fantastic area, with small buildings converted into wineries. I loved it. As you can see the space was perfect for my art! The walls are hand painted and are a warm orange color. As Zach said: it's a good thing my paintings have frames, otherwise they'd look like part of the wall. So true. Clearly my work was destined for an orange wall.

Also, as you can see in the middle painting, there's a blank wall down the hallway. Can't have that, so I'm working as fast as I can on more paintings to hang at Szygy.

P.S.: the 2006 Syrah. If you can get your hands on that, get it. How to get your hands on it? Well for starters, the Artists Reception is scheduled for Saturday, July 10th, at the winery. Join us! Buy wine AND art.

I would love to see that in person - hopefully we can get over to Walla Walla for the opening. It would be great to taste that '06 Syrah too!

Thanks everyone! It's really such a great space and the winemaker/owner is such fun to work with. I can't wait to take more paintings over there. This all happened thanks to my dear friend Anne-Marie and the magic of Twitter!

Awesome and congratulations on this exhibit.

I spent many days on the Rattlesnake and the Uptanum ridges when I trained at the firing center. One time, I experienced searing upper nineties heat and then drove up to Badger Gap at 7,000 feet, and got snowed on. What a place!

My favorite art inventory system

Over the past couple of years I've looked at and played with a lot of computer programs for keeping track of artwork. Here are past blog posts on the subject: Art Inventory Systems, here's what I've tried and then this Update on Art Inventory Systems Alyson Stanfield has also written about this riveting subject on her great blog here . I come to these systems with built-in bias. I prefer a FileMaker based system to an Access based system because I think it's a more powerful and smoother software to use. I'd worked for a nonprofit that used Filemaker and it's what I know. I also prefer a system without goofy graphics. I'm an artist. I care how things look. If I open up software every couple of days I would like it to be clean and simple and not ugly. But computers evolve and the next direction is to the cloud.
